Two One Act Plays & Important Dialogue
about Economic Justice
Waiting for Lefty by Clifford Odets.
A 1935 play consisting of a series of related vignettes, Waiting
for Lefty is framed by the meeting of cab drivers who are
planning a labor strike. Like today’s Unions, Occupy and Tea
Party movements, the unions of the 1930’s found their power in a
unified voice. This play sets the foundation for a look at the
complex issue of immigration.
The Line in the Sand: Stories from the US/Mexican Border by
Jared Delaney, Gina Pisasale, Baird Kistner and Elizabeth Pool.
This play uses the power of theater to tell the personal stories
of people affected by US/Mexico border migration. Through a
collection of monologues and photos, audiences are exposed to a
variety of points of view on this complex and critical issue.
Performances will be followed by a discussion.
